Indeed, but how many times it happens that we cheat ourselves, because we are not true to ourselves and others, not true to God in us – then the game of the mind starts in all facets. When seeing only our own thoughts, words, deeds, our eyes and ears are closed to see and hear what others have to say and do to learn from, then we judge and punish even, because we think we know everything better, although we do not admit it, because we are then blind in many case towards ourselves and others. As it is said: A convinced person does not hear. This is this kind of self-cheating we all are involved in. When does honesty begin? It begins with awareness of our motives (mostly of our mind), why we say or do this and that (mostly to gain an advantage, to be in a good position, to look good in the eyes of others, to strive for acknowledgement etc.). In doing so we learn from ourselves, we learn the tricks of our own mind that is playing with us. So not to be aware of our own thoughts, words, and deeds, means that we are ignorant, unconscious – then how can we be honest? So honesty goes along with consciousness, with the knowldege of our own thoughts, words, and deeds. How many things we still do in unawareness? This journey brings us deeper and deeper and shows us our own shortcoming more and more, even very sublime ones.
