True to be oneself

If we want to progress on the spiritual path
Then we have to be very strict with ourselves
We should judge our own mistakes
As we judge the mistakes of others
After a while, we will not see
The mistakes of others anymore
Just our own mistakes

As long our own house is on fire
We cannot help to extinguish the flames
Of other houses

We also will get to know
That we cannot help ourselves very much
It is God who can help us
So why not surrender to Him
Wholly and solely?

Well, it is our mind
That turns the attention
To the pleasures of the world
Distracting us from God

If you ask someone if he is true to himself
And he answers: “Yes I am”
Be sure then, he is not
As he does not know himself
He does not know all the hidden tricks of the mind…
