Not in our hands

We want to control our lives,
but life controls us,
depending on what we do, think, say.

We ourselves are only the reaction
to our own actions:
Life as a mirroring force
that holds us in its iron grip.
It is a mirror to our self,
a wave dependent
on many waves
that surround us, let us do
and make us do,
like a wave in the ocean of life.

We deceive ourselves when we think we do,
for we are done
by the eternal winds of being.
